Hi again! Do we need pet items?

  • by

Well then. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I’m still here, just processing what’s happening in the world and trying to work out what my part is in what comes next. It’ll look a lot different than it has in the past (we’re going low-stress from here on out) and I’m excited for it!

In the face of the overwhelm I feel right now, I’m choosing to find the thing that I can contribute to making a difference in the world. For the time being, my contribution is to keep reminding everyone to shop small and shop local. My personal choice is to shop Canadian as well. This is a slippery slope for me to even mention because I, like many Canadians, am FURIOUS about the casual but willful jabs at our sovereignty taken by the current US administration. It takes almost nothing to send me on a rant these days, which is not productive in this space. I’ll be back to actively reducing textile waste soon.

In the meantime, I have two ideas and some related questions for you:

First, would you read an email newsletter from Something Different Upcycled? What would you like to hear about? How often would you like to receive it?

And second, in honour of the new associate I’ve been onboarding over the past few months (a puppy who is unexpectedly over 50lbs at 5 months old) and a suggestion I had a few times last year, does Something Different need to start offering pet items made from upcycled fabrics? If so, what would you most want to see? For what sort of animal? Backgrounds for fishtanks? Hair ties for horses? Collars for cats, dogs, or other critters? Leashes for small and/or well behaved furry or scaled friends? Let me know in the comments below or send me a message.

P.S. I just signed on for a market next month – can’t wait to share more about that soon!
