Now that Halloween is over (and now that my website issues have been sorted out), I think I can safely begin telling you about what’s coming up over the next two months. This post covers four main topics related to holiday updates and new items: Custom orders for Christmas, the Samples and Seconds Sale, a teaser about special items coming for holiday gifting, and where you can find Something Different Upcycled items in November and December.
Custom Orders Closing Soon
First, I’ll be closing custom orders for the rest of 2024 on Friday November 15th, so get those inquiries in soon! Have a look at this post for the full run-down of information about custom orders at Something Different Upcycled.
Custom orders will re-open in late January 2025.
Samples and Seconds Sale
Next, if you’ve read all of the pages on the website, you might remember that I planned to have a Samples and Seconds Sale in November. If not (and I suspect that I’m the only one who’s done that), guess what? I’m having a Samples and Seconds Sale! Hooray!
It’ll be a mix of items that aren’t quite up to my regular quality control measures (slightly wonky seams, slightly mis-shaped multipurpose cloths and napkins, marks on fabric that I didn’t see until it was too late to cut around them) and one-off samples I made but didn’t put into the regular Something Different Upcycled lineup. Everything is perfectly functional and in good condition. Expect discounts of 30-50% on seconds and special pricing for samples.
This year, I’ll have these items with me at the Good Stuff Market in Vancouver at the end of this month. They’ll be clearly marked as sale items and you’ll have the chance to ask me questions about them if you want. In future years, I might put this sale online instead so do follow along on Instagram for updates.
New Items for Holiday Gifting
Third, I have a few special items coming your way in over the next few weeks so I thought I’d do a quick profile of each one (a mini-Product Profile, if you will), so you know what’s coming. That will be a special edition of the blog, coming Tuesday November 12th, 2024. I had intended to include it in this post but it just got too long! I’ll post a link on Instagram on Tuesday to take you right to that post.
And, finally, a special note for Lower Mainland folks…
(and others who will be in the area)
You need to get to Homemade in Chilliwack during the holiday season. Starting November 16th and running until December 24th and in addition to the regular shopping area, there will be a special Christmas Market in the Shoppe! That’s where you’ll find the larger sizes of the gift bags I’ve made (the smaller sizes will be on my shelf…and, oh dear, that’s a spoiler for some of the special holiday items I’ve made). I’m really looking forward to it and I think it’s going to be a must-visit. Make a day of it and wander around District 1881 to really get in the holiday spirit.
And you also need to get to the Good Stuff Market at Heritage Hall in Vancouver, November 30th and December 1st, 11am to 5pm both days. All handmade, wonderful, and unique items, and all under $50. I’ll be there with a whole bunch of great gifts. Keep your eyes open for a post in the next few weeks with more details about the market!
